My services as a licensed clinical social worker qualify for patient reimbursement and may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. It is important to note that I am an out-of-network provider. This means I do not accept payment directly from insurance companies. Keep in mind that most insurance plans offer some level of coverage for out-of-network mental health services. I know this can seem overwhelming but most patients find the process to go smoothly and I will help in any way possible.

I have chosen not to participate as an in-network provider with insurance plans because many insurance companies place unnecessary restrictions on the length and type of therapy a client can receive. I believe that an insurance company does not know the details of your needs or experiences and therefore should not be able to make those decisions for you. Some insurance companies may also require detailed disclosures of certain client information which I believe compromises confidentiality.

Depending on your eligibility and out-of-network benefits, you may be able to receive reimbursement for your sessions. Typically, reimbursements are 60-80% of your session cost. Please be sure to call your insurance carrier directly to understand your out-of-network benefits.

Here are some suggested questions to ask your insurance carrier:

  • Do I have any out-of-network benefits for outpatient therapy sessions?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible?
  • Has my out-of-network deductible been met yet?
  • Do I need a pre-authorization?
  • Does my plan cover a certain amount of sessions per calendar year?
  • Does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?

I will do everything I can to help you make this as smooth a process as possible. That includes providing you with monthly superbills that contain all of the necessary information to apply for reimbursement from your insurance carrier.

I utilize evidence-based trauma therapies such as EMDR and Ego State Therapy which helps patients understand their past experiences and integrate them into their current daily life. I am also trained in comprehensive DBT. I am originally psychodynamically trained and utilize some components of this modality in my work with patients.

With couples, I utilize Imago methods and CBT to support patients’ abilities to communicate, listen effectively to one another and identify when cognitive distortions may be present.
Many of the patients I work with have had distressing life events. I have experience supporting a number of clinical concerns, such as major life events, separation and divorce, grief and loss, pre-and post-natal concerns, chronic illness, challenges with self-image, and unstable interpersonal relationships. I work in a collaborative, interactive way to support patients.
