About Me
Hello,
my name is Sarah Miller
I am an independently licensed clinical social worker serving residents of DC and VA via telehealth. I am also available for in-person sessions at my office in DuPont Circle in Washington, DC.

My Approach
I’m passionate about helping people with trauma histories and sexual concerns understand their past and heal past trauma wounds.
The majority of my practice focuses on trauma, attachment healing and supporting those with sexual identity and functioning concerns. Working from a trauma-informed lens, I utilize evidence-based modalities such as EMDR and ego-state therapy (parts work).
I am trained in comprehensive DBT and incorporate the DBT skills and teachings.
I support a diverse range of clinical concerns, including:
- People grieving a recent loss or major life change
- People navigating chronic illness
- People experiencing challenges with emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness
- People with trauma histories including sexual, emotional and physical trauma
- People who lack a clear or strong sense of sense or personal identity
- People who identify as having people pleasing or caretaking tendencies
- Questioning your gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Evaluating your relationship structure and considering a nonconformative relationship style such as polyamory, ENM/CNM or are currently practicing this type of relationship structure and are an individual or couple looking for support.
- Experiencing discrepant sexual desire in your relationship or other sexual concerns or disorders.
In addition to the above, I also have extensive experience working with people with psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
My Background
I am openly queer and nonmonogamous, and have personal experience with many of the concerns I treat in session. These lived experiences allow me to be understanding and compassionate about my patients' needs and challenges.
My style of therapy is collaborative and interactive. I offer spaces for patients to feel both seen and understood while incorporating opportunities for challenge and growth.
If the above resonates with you, I would be happy to speak with you during a 30-minute consultation to hear more about your needs and discuss the ways my experience and style of therapy could support you.
